Sapa after salary | Mid-month survival

The Challenge

Every 9-to-5er in Nigeria understands what it feels like in the middle of the month. After settling the previous month's bills and grocery expenses, many find themselves counting down to the next payday while worrying about how to survive 'Sapa'.

Renmoney helps address this problem by offering quick, collateral-free loans to ease financial pressures between paydays.

The business needed a video that effectively communicates this message to their customers, with a particular emphasis on the incorporation of AI as one of the project's core requirements.

The Solution

After researching Renmoney's product offerings and understanding their target audience. I designed the video to resonate with a young, working-class demographic of Millennials and Gen Zs.

This insight informed the pacing of the animation, choice of music and other creative decisions that shaped the project's execution.

Since AI integration was mandatory, I first developed a story roadmap that outlined the narrative arc from start to finish. This helped maintain focus and prevented me from getting lost in the rabbit hole of endless AI-generated variations.

With that foundation, I began with rough storyboard sketches aligned with the provided script.

AI tools integrated into the workflow:

  • Eleven Labs – Voice-over generation
  • Sora and Envato AI – Generative visuals

Design / Styleframes

During the design phase, I combined AI-generated imagery with traditional design techniques.

I refined prompts across multiple iterations until I achieved visuals that matched my creative intent and aligned with the brand’s identity. The selected images were then cleaned up/enhanced in Photoshop and further composited in After Effects to create a cohesive look.

Conclusion

Although this project presented new challenges due to its strict AI requirements, the process from start to finish was both insightful and exciting.

I anticipate that we’ll continue to see more client requests involving AI-driven workflows in future motion design projects.

Thank you for reading through this case study.

Cheers and see you on the next one!
